Rosacea
What is rosacea?
Rosacea is a skin condition that is frequently overlooked by healthcare providers. Often a patient is told that he or she looks red or sunburned. Other times the patient’s face can have a burning or hot sensation, most notable after eating spicy or hot foods or beverages. Alcoholic beverages are also a major factor. Most patients find their condition unappealing or even embarrassing yet they are not aware that treatment is available.

Lifestyle changes are very important as are some dietary restrictions. For examples of dietary changes, click here. Patients can also often benefit from prescription and non-prescription treatments. Prescriptions and proper skincare can often prevent the long-term complications of this skin condition.

Treatments with lasers can actually reverse the chronic redness and broken facial blood vessels that are seen with this condition. Most patients have best results with 4-6 treatments then biannual maintenance.
